Your Washing Machine Smells ???!
| I tried everything to cure my wachine machine of a horrible stale water smell. Now I've found that the answer to stop my waching machine smelling bad is simple and cheap, I thought I'd better share it here to help others. |
The Symptoms:-
After every wash, the washing machine smells bad. An awful, stale smell affects the area around the washing machine and even affects clothes.
The Cause:-
Modern liquid detergents used in washing machines are great for care of clothes, and good for the environment; but they often leave a residue which is susceptible to mould and bacteria. This makes your washing machine smell horrible.
The Cure ? :-
Luckily the cure is quick, cheap and easy. I tried white vinegar, I tried a washing machine cleaner, neither worked.
The Solution is....
Buy a small box of old style biological washing powder. ( I use Arial Original Biological). Don't use it for your main wash, as biological powders can be harsh on colours and fabric.
Always save something that would benefit from a hot wash (older towels etc). Make the last wash of the day a very hot wash using only biological powder with no fabric softener.
Over a very short time period, any stale residue from old washing liquid and fabric softener will vanish without trace. The bad washing machine smell will be gone.
